Artist Note

This exhilarating band was created by Bang on a Can to kick off Lincoln Center's Out of Doors Festival in 2009. I was so happy to be asked to create their look, which I envisioned in broken textures like the pavement in their name, and an urban palette of steel grey and blue denim with marching band navy. I styled each talented musician by highlighting their own personal style, and also fitting them into the ensemble. I loved it when the shoes I painted and the patches I designed made it onto their album cover. It was a thrill when they came marching out of the 66th street subway stairs for their first concert; rocking Lincoln Center and looking amazing.
